Counselling for Fertility and Parental Mental Health
“We don't have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.”
— Brene Brown
Welcome
Hello! My name is Leeya and I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#11837) with the BCACC. I have a Masters degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle and have worked in the helping profession for the last 16 years. I provide virtual counselling to individuals and couples across British Columbia. I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy and instead, sessions must be tailored to the individual client and their needs. I am influenced by various paradigms including Adlerian, Existential, Emotion Focused, and Solution Focused Theories. I specialize in supporting clients who are struggling to conceive, facing pregnancy loss(es), undergoing fertility treatment, dealing with difficult emotions during pregnancy, new parents struggling with postpartum anxiety and depression, or the general adjustment to caring for a new baby, and individuals who are childless not by choice.
Virtual Counselling
The pandemic changed the ways in which clients seek counselling. Many clients reported that they appreciated the convenience of virtual sessions and found value in being in the comfort of their own home when discussing the vulnerable subject matter of fertility and parental mental health. Virtual counselling also allows me to work with clients across British Columbia. In remote locations, there may be a shortage of therapists specializing in fertility or clients may prefer the greater anonymity that comes from working with a therapist in a further away location. I offer video counselling through a secure online platform and phone counselling.
“I always thought I was super fertile and never thought infertility would be part of my story. After trying to have a baby for three years, I felt lost. My sister and close friends all got pregnant instantly and could never fully understand what I was going through. Working with Leeya has changed everything. She understands all the terms I use, has ideas to help me advocate for myself with my doctors, and has helped me to create strategies to survive all of the waiting in this process. I am so grateful to have found a therapist who truly understands what this experience is like.”

Support Group Sessions
Virtual support groups are offered once a month based on demand. Two separate groups are offered. The Fertility Support Group allows individuals to connect with others who are also struggling to conceive or undergoing fertility treatment. Through the session, participants learn from myself and one another about how to cope with the frustrations in the trying to conceive journey.
The Pregnancy and Postpartum Support Group is for women who are struggling with postpartum mental health concerns such as Postpartum Depression (PPD), Postpartum Anxiety, and rage. Connect with Leeya to learn more about these two groups.
